Education
Philip Loh graduated from the then University of Singapore (now National University of Singapore) in 1981. He was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore on 14 January 1981
Professional experience
After a short stint as Legal Assistant, he formed a partnership firm of M/s Chan Loh & Partners in 1982. During the partnership years, he focused on civil matters, including corporate matters and civil litigation. Philip also acted in criminal and statutory board cases.
The partnership was dissolved at end-May 1999 as one of the key partners retired from practice. Philip then practiced as a sole proprietor under the style of Philip Loh & Co before joining Cornerstone Law LLP.
During his more than 40 years in legal practice, Philip acted for banks, financial institutions, companies and individuals in civil matters (including litigation in the State Courts, High Courts, arbitrations, and Security of Payment Act adjudications). Philip is also conversant in all aspects of conveyancing practice.
other involvements
Philip Loh is active in community services since 1988. He was appointed as the Chairman of the Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng Citizens' Consultative Committee ("CCC") from 2010 to 2022. After he stepped down as the chairman of the CCC, he was conferred the title of Honorary Chairman and also appointed as a Grassroots Mentor by the People's Association of Singapore.
For his dedicated and significant contributions to the community, he was award the following awards: (1) Public Service Medal by the then President, Mr. Ong Teng Cheong in 1996; (2) Public Service Star by the then President, Mr. S R Nathan in 2007; and (3) Public Service Star (Bar) by the then President, Mdm. Halimah Yacob in 2021.
Currently, Philip is still involved in Legal Counselling Sessions at the Kim Seng Community Centre together with a panel of lawyers. Philip is also the Legal Adviser to the Singapore Nanyang Loh Clan Association, the Singapore Chinese Druggist Association, Chinatown Complex Hawkers Association, Mun San Fook Tuck Chee Temple, and the Tian Yun Miao Association.
